Working Committee Kuki CSOs lift economic blockade with immediate effect

Working Committee Kuki Civil Society Organisations(WCKCSOs) has called off its economic blockade imposed along NH-2 after the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee called off its blockade on Friday

The Foothills Naga Coordination Committee had imposed blockade/ bandh on movement of Kuki community in the foothills region of the state inhabited by few naga tribes of Manipur for the past many days to fulfill their demands placed to the government.

However, the manipur government and the FNCC had a meeting on Friday and reached an understanding on different issues placed by FNCC.

Following the understanding reached with the government, the FNCC called of the blockade.

Acknowledging the steps taken by the Manipur government, the Working Committee Kuki Civil Society Organisations on saturday called off economic blockade along NH-2 which began on Friday.

The WCKCSOs express its gratitude to the 'mature stand taken by the United Naga Council in localizing the current issue and upholding humanitarian principles'.

The Committee reminded all stakeholders and the state/central authorities that they will never allow any organization to dictate terms along our lifelines of Kuki community and appealed to the Kuki community to be always prepared to voice their democratic protests if and when necessitated in the coming future.
