Various Kuki Zo tribes and civil society organizations endorses Kuki Zo Council’s decision to abstain from government formation in Manipur.

The organisations stated that they endorse without reservation the political demand articulated by the Kuki-Zo Council; the establishment of a Separate Administration in the form of a Union Territory under the Constitution of India.

Following the decision of Kuki Zo Council that the Kuki-Zo people cannot and shall not join the formation of the Manipur Government at the present circumstances, different apex bodies of Kuki Zo tribes and civil society organization have expressed their support to the decision of the council.

In a statement issued on January 11, apex body of Vaiphei tribe Vaiphei Peoples’ Council general headquarter and its constituent bodies Young Vaiphei Association GHQ and Vaiphei Women Association GHQ have express their full support to the decision of Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) Governing Council dated the December 30, 2025.

VPC and its constituent bodies also declared that they endorse the political demand articulated by the Kuki-Zo Council for a Separate Administration in the form of Union Territory under the Constitution of India while stating that is a must for the protection of Kuki-Zo kinder tribe and for their Political Survival in time to come.

The Vaiphei Peoples' Council and its constituent's member also declared that they will stand firm and abide by the decision of the Kuki-Zo Council in their endeavor towards the Political aspiration of its people.

Apex body of Zou tribe, United Zou Organization (UZO), General Headquarters (GHQ),  together with its constituent organizations the Zou Youth Organization (ZYO) GHQ and the Zou Sangnaupang Pawlpi (ZSP) GHQ also issued a statement on Sunday declaring  full and unequivocal support to the resolution of the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) Governing Council.

The organisations stated that they endorse without reservation the political demand articulated by the Kuki-Zo Council; the establishment of a Separate Administration in the form of a Union Territory under the Constitution of India.

“This demand is an absolute necessity for safeguarding the Kuki-Zo people and ensuring the survival of their political identity in the years ahead. The United Zou Organization, along with its constituent members, stands firm, united, and resolute. We shall abide by the decision of the Kuki-Zo Council and remain steadfast in the collective endeavor to secure the rightful political future. of our people”, the release added.

Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum had also endorsed the decision of the Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) Governing Council that the Kuki-Zo people will neither join nor support the formation of the Manipur Government under the prevailing circumstances.

The Kuki Chief Association Tengnoupal District, the Hill Tribal Council, (HTC) Moreh and the Molnoi Area Welfare Council (MAWC) also declared that they unequivocally endorse and support the resolution adopted by KZC in regards to the formation of popular government in Manipur.

The bodies stated that the KuKI-Zo people have been demanding total separation from the Meitei community and hence the decision of the KuKi-Zo council is in accordance with the wish and aspiration of the Kuki-Zo people.

They also urged the central authority to understand the sentiments and plight of the Kuki-Zo people and initiate steps to fulfill their collective demand for separate administration within the constitution of the Indian Union. Kuki Inpi Ukhrul District also expressed its full and unwavering support for the resolution of the Kuki-Zo Council
