In a significant step towards empowering local youth amidst ongoing ethnic unrest, Saikul Assembly Constituency MLA Kimneo Hangshing, in collaboration with INSIDE-NORTH EAST, distributed eight computers and ten tailoring machines during a graduation ceremony held today. The event marked the successful completion of skill development training programs aimed at providing employment opportunities for young individuals, particularly from the Kuki community.

The training, offered free of charge by INSIDE-NORTH EAST, has served as a critical support initiative for many youths displaced or affected by the ongoing ethnic clashes in the region. As part of the ceremony, training certificates were awarded to the graduates, acknowledging their efforts and equipping them for future livelihood opportunities.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Hangshing expressed concern over delays in developmental activities due to the ongoing crisis but reaffirmed her commitment to pushing forward. “While many projects have been held back due to the turmoil, I remain dedicated to rebuilding and advancing our community,” she stated.

Pu Hejang Misao, Director of INSIDE-NORTH EAST, lauded the MLA’s persistent efforts in driving development, including the establishment of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), a State Bank of India branch in Saikul, and the blacktopping of roads in the constituency. “Despite the challenges, we must remain resilient and committed to progress,” he said.

Later in the day, MLA Kimneo visited Restorer Home at Kholmol village — a drug rehabilitation center described as a "beacon of hope and healing" for those battling addiction. She expressed heartfelt appreciation for the center’s founder, praising their vision and relentless service in supporting recovering youths. As a symbolic gesture of encouragement, she also presented a guitar to the center.

Reiterating her resolve, MLA Kimneo stated, “Together, we can restore lives and build a healthier, stronger community. Our youth deserve a future free from the grip of addiction.”
