The Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SAHILCA) on Monday organized its annual New Year Feast and Prayer at Kangpokpi, underscoring the vital importance of unity, mutual understanding and collective responsibility among civil society organisations in the district.
The event brought together leaders of various civil society organisations (CSOs) from across the district, serving as a common platform for reflection, fellowship and renewed commitment towards the welfare of the people.
The primary objective of the New Year Feast and Prayer was to seek divine guidance and blessings for harmony and cooperation among CSOs, recognizing that sustained unity is essential for addressing social challenges and advancing the collective interests of the community.
Rev. Dr. Satkhokai Chongloi attended the programme as the minister and led special prayers for the leaders of civil society organisations, invoking wisdom, strength and discernment as they shoulder the responsibility of guiding society through the year ahead.
Speakers at the event highlighted that SAHILCA’s initiative is not merely a ceremonial gathering but a timely reminder of the crucial role played by traditional institutions and civil society in fostering peace, stability and people-centric development in the district.
The New Year Feast and Prayer concluded with a renewed pledge among the participating organisations to work in unity and harmony, reinforcing SAHILCA’s role as a unifying force committed to the social and moral well-being of the people of Sadar Hills.
