Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has stated that the Rashtrahit Sarvopari Sangathan (RSS) and its affiliated Hindu organisations plan to launch "Chalo Manipur," which it describes as “a march for domination, occupation, and ethnic annihilation,” and insists that it must be stopped.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur issued a statement on Tuesday condemning the recent announcement made by the RSS and its affiliates to launch the so-called "Chalo Manipur" march. The campaign reportedly calls upon lakhs of individuals to enter Kuki-inhabited hill areas under the guise of “rehabilitating displaced Meiteis.”
KIM stated, “This is not a march for peace or rehabilitation.”
The organisation added that such a provocative campaign is not only deeply irresponsible but a deliberate attempt to escalate the already volatile situation in Manipur and further incite ethnic violence.
Moreover, attempts to portray the proposed march as a religious rehabilitation effort are “disingenuous and dangerous,” the release added.
KIM stated that the so-called "Chalo Manipur" campaign is a veiled effort to forcibly push Meiteis into Kuki territories, fully aware that this would likely result in fresh clashes, communal tension, and bloodshed.
The march, which was flagged off in New Delhi by a coalition of right-wing organisations, is described by KIM as a reckless mobilization intended to provoke hostilities and disrupt peace in the hills.
According to the statement, the campaign aligns disturbingly with former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s one-sided governance, which has openly supported Meitei vigilante groups and remained silent—or complicit—when atrocities were committed against tribal communities.
KIM further stated that the state machinery has consistently failed to protect minority hill communities, and this latest move appears to be part of a broader plan to eliminate or forcibly displace Kukis from their ancestral lands.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur calls on the Government of India and security agencies to immediately intervene and prevent any such provocative march from taking place.
Similarly, the apex body of the Kuki people also calls on international human rights observers and national media to take serious note of this dangerous escalation and hold the responsible parties accountable.
“If the proposed ‘Chalo Manipur’ goes ahead, Kuki Inpi Manipur will hold the Government of India and the Manipur State Government fully responsible for any resulting violence, loss of life, or destruction of property,” the statement read.
The release further emphasized that the hills are not a battleground for political experiments and that the resilience of the Kuki-Zo people should not be mistaken for submission.
