Road Maintenance Underway in Parts of Churachandpur District Ahead of Prime Minister’s Visit

In connection with the proposed Prime Minister’s visit to Manipur in July, road maintenance in the Churachandpur district has been ongoing for the past few days.

Maintenance and renovation work on the road from Teddim Road to Gangpimual village, Pearsonmun village, STC BSF Helipad, and up to Tipaimukh Road—undertaken by the Public Works Department—has been progressing in full swing.

It is learnt that the Prime Minister is expected to visit Churachandpur during his trip to Manipur. As such, maintenance and repair work on roads leading to the helipad in the district has been taken up.

Seeing the road construction, which has been neglected for the past 20 years, locals expressed hope and joy at the prospect of finally having a proper road. According to the residents, there are around three educational institutions in the area, and students face hardships during the rainy season due to poor road conditions.

Locals also informed that they served food, tea, and soft drinks to the workers engaged in the road maintenance, hoping to encourage them to build and repair the roads with the best quality possible. Some even extended direct help in the work, motivated by the hope of finally having better roads in their localities.

Locals remarked that if road maintenance and construction are carried out whenever any VIP visits the district, it would be highly beneficial for the villagers. They added that if such visits occurred every month, development works would be taken up regularly.
