Reacting to the recent statement issued by Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) regarding the incident at Daili village a few days ago, Naga Peoples Organisation has declared that all forms of economic supply passing towards Kangpokpi areas will be halted from November 5 midnight.
In a statement issued on Monday, Naga Peoples Organisation stated that that if CoTU truly considers itself a responsible organisation, it must exercise honesty and integrity in addressing such a grave matter. Otherwise, one is compelled to ask if not the Kukis, then who else raised the slogans "We want Kuki Land" and "We demand Kuki Land"?
The NPO does not blame the entire Kuki- Zo community. In fact, NPO urged the concerned community-based civil society organisations to identify and present the culprits to NPO’s office, it added.
NPO stated that the statement issued by CoTU further confirms that the incident was a deliberate and calculated attempt to insult and dishonour the living legendary leader of the Nagas.
“Therefore, to protect the dignity, integrity, and safety of the Naga people, the Naga People's Organisation (NPO) shall take a drastic course of action by completely halting all forms of economic supply passing towards Kangpokpi areas, within 48 hours (5th November Midnight,2025)”, the release added.
In response to the previous ultimatum issued by NPO in regards to the incident at Daili, CoTU had stated that any attempt to link the incident to the Kuki Zo community at large is baseless, unjustified, and detrimental to peaceful coexistence.
Concerning the alleged incident of poster defacement and firecracker detonation at Daili Village during the civil reception of the Ato Kilonser of the GPRN, CoTU in a release on November 2 stated that such alleged acts, if true, as regrettable and highly condemnable, and reiterates that these isolated misdeeds by unidentified individuals must not be construed as representative of any community, particularly the Kuki-Zo people.
The Committee on Tribal Unity had also urges the Naga People’s Organisation and all responsible civil society organisations to exercise restraint and to avoid communal interpretations of isolated acts until proper verification is made.
