Multiple landslides occurred at various locations along Guite Road—also known as National Highway 102B—which connects Churachandpur and Mizoram, on Sunday and Monday. The landslides forced many private and passenger service vehicles traveling on the road to delay their movement and stop along the route.
According to eyewitnesses, two landslides occurred on Monday around 1 p.m., between Sinzawl–Khuanggin and Sinzawl–Khawkawn, forcing many vehicles to stop mid-journey. The debris from the landslide between Sinzawl and Khawkawn was eventually cleared, allowing vehicles to resume their journey.
However, another landslide at a different location between Sinzawl and Khawkawn occurred later, once again forcing vehicles to halt. The Guite Road Chief Association (GRCA) took the initiative to contact NHIDCL for assistance in clearing the debris. As of the time of this report, there were no further updates.
On Sunday, landslides were also reported near Sinzawl–Khuanggin and Sinzawl–Khawkawn. Upon hearing the news, GRCA contacted M&S Company, which has been engaged in road construction in the area, and requested assistance in clearing the road. The road was cleared by around 4 a.m. on Monday.
For any assistance, GRCA has provided the following helpline numbers: 6009447920, 8119939388, and 9862133461.
