In a major breakthrough, joint teams of the Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and the Indian Army/Assam Rifles carried out a series of intelligence-based operations across the outskirts of five valley districts in Manipur on the night of June 13 and 14. The operations led to the recovery of a huge cache of arms, ammunition, explosives, and warlike stores.
According to a press release issued by the Manipur Police, the seized items include - 151 SLR rifles, 65 INSAS rifles, 73 other rifles, 5 carbine guns, 2 MP5 guns, 12 LMG rifles, 6 AK-series rifles, 2 Amogh rifles, 1 mortar, 6 pistols, 2 barrels, 1 AR-15 and 2 flare guns
In addition to the firearms, the joint forces also recovered a massive haul of ammunition, including 591 assorted magazines, 3,534 SLR rounds, and 2,186 INSAS rounds.
The police hailed the successful operation as a significant step forward in restoring peace and maintaining public order in the conflict-ridden region. They emphasized that such efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
Reaffirming its commitment to a peaceful and secure Manipur, the Manipur Police appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement authorities and report any suspicious activities or information regarding illegal arms to the nearest police station or Central Control Room.
