Volunteers supported the 24-hour shutdown imposed by one of the apex student bodies in the district, the Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO), Churachandpur, by blocking roads in the heart of the district since Friday morning.
The shutdown was imposed to express disappointment over the participation of Kuki-Zo MLAs in the formation of the Manipur government.

Business establishments and schools remained closed during the shutdown, and vehicular movement was restricted, except for emergency services.

Opposing the participation of Kuki-Zo MLAs in the Manipur government formation, the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights will be organising a public rally at 12 noon today.

A similar rally was also organised in the border town of Moreh in Tengnoupal district against the participation of Kuki-Zo MLAs in the Manipur government formation.
