The Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) organized a public rally on Wednesday to protest the arbitrary arrest of Kuki-Zo people by the NIA and CBI.

Thousands gathered at the Koite village football ground for the rally in the morning. After the public gathering, leaders from KWOHR, Kuki Inpi Churachandpur, and Kuki Students Organisation Churachandpur addressed the crowd.

The rally then began, with participants holding various placards, raising different slogans, and peacefully concluding at the Wall of Remembrance site in Tuibong, near Peace Ground.

Prior to the rally, the President of KWOHR, Ngaineikim, briefed the gathering about the purpose of the event. She stated that it was organized to protest the arbitrary arrests and charges filed against Kuki-Zo leaders and people by the CBI and NIA, instead of arresting those responsible for crimes against the Kuki-Zo community.

She emphasized that the rally was meant to express resentment and disappointment toward the actions of the CBI and NIA, and to demand the unconditional release of Kuki-Zo individuals who had been arrested.

Ngaineikim also called on Kuki-Zo women to remain vigilant and informed the villagers and leaders to be on alert in case security personnel come to arrest male family members.

Representatives from Kuki Inpi Churachandpur, including Thangboi Vaiphei, and the Vice President of KSO Ccpur, Minlal Gangte, also stressed the importance of maintaining unity among the Kuki-Zo communities to ensure the success of the movement for separate administration.

The rally highlighted several demands, including the unconditional release of Kuki-Zo leaders, the arrest of leaders from Arambai Tenggol, Meitei Leepun, COCOMI, and others involved in looting the state armory, the punishment of former Chief Minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh, according to the law, constitutional reorganization under Article 3, and equitable representation.

KWOHR submitted a memorandum to the Union Home Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Dharun Kumar.
