The President of Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) on Monday extended Christmas and New Year greetings to the Kuki-Zo community, calling for solemn observance, collective prayer and renewed unity amid what it described as an unprecedented period of suffering and uncertainty for the people.
In his Christmas and New Year message issued from the KIM Secretariat, Ch. Ajang Khongsai, President KIM said the sacred season arrives at a time when the Kuki-Zo people continue to endure violence, displacement and irreparable loss, but added that faith and resilience have sustained the community through the darkest of times.
“Christmas carries a profound message of hope, peace and divine light, especially during moments of deep pain and uncertainty,” the KIM president said, noting that despite immense adversity, the people have remained steadfast in faith and in the belief that justice and peace will ultimately prevail.
Khongsai drew attention to the recent advisory of the Kuki Christian Leaders’ Forum (KCLF), which has appealed to the community to observe Christmas with restraint, solemnity and reflection. He urged all sections of the Kuki-Zo society to honour the call by keeping the celebrations prayerful and centred on compassion, humility and solidarity.
“As we commemorate the birth of Christ, let us do so in a spirit of prayer and reflection, remembering those who have suffered and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice,” he said.
Looking ahead to the New Year, the KIM president expressed hope that 2026 would bring healing to wounded hearts, renewed strength to the displaced, and greater unity among the people. He called upon the community to remember with respect and gratitude the families who lost loved ones during the violence and to continue supporting them through collective resolve and conscience.
Urging the people to observe the festive season with love, peace and mutual care, Khongsai said, “May this Christmas offer comfort and reassurance, and may the New Year guide the Kuki-Zo people towards unity, justice, lasting peace and prosperity.”
The Kangpokpi Town Committee, along with the Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation and the Kangpokpi Youth Union also joins in extending warm Christmas and New Year greetings to all residents of Kangpokpi.
In a festive message, the Kangpokpi local bodies said Christmas, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, carries a timeless message of love, peace, hope and compassion, and called upon the people to uphold these values in their daily lives.
The greetings were extended to all sections of society, including the young and the elderly, displaced families who have made Kangpokpi their home, students and workers unable to return home for the holidays, and residents celebrating the season away from their families.
The local bodies also expressed appreciation for the continued service of church leaders, educators, healthcare professionals, banking personnel, fire and emergency services, police personnel and volunteers, noting that their dedication remains crucial to the welfare and stability of the town, even during the festive season.
Special thoughts and prayers were conveyed to those spending the season in hospitals or on sickbeds, with the committee expressing hope for their recovery and well-being.
As the New Year approaches, the Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation and Kangpokpi Youth Union expressed hope that the coming year would bring peace, unity, development and lasting stability to the town and its people, and wished all residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
