The Kuki Inpi Manipur, the apex body of Kuki tribes, has strongly condemned the bombing of Leilon Vaiphei village on June 15, allegedly carried out by NSCN-IM and its proxy outfit, ZUF-K, and has called on the government to take immediate and decisive action against those responsible.
In a statement issued on Monday, the apex Kuki body described the attack as a violent act that endangered innocent lives, damaged properties, and further disrupted peace and security in the area.
The apex body stated that attacks targeting civilian areas are unacceptable, inhuman, and pose a direct threat to the rule of law. It expressed concern over the continued insecurity faced by residents of Leilon Vaiphei and neighbouring areas, alleging that armed groups continue to operate with apparent freedom and impunity.
Questioning what it described as the government's continued leniency toward those responsible for creating terror and destruction, the Kuki Inpi warned that silence, delay, or inaction would only embolden perpetrators and deepen public anger and mistrust.
The Kuki Inpi urged the government and security forces to immediately identify, arrest, and prosecute all individuals involved in the attack. It further called for enhanced security measures to safeguard civilians and prevent any recurrence of violence.
Emphasising that civilian safety must remain the highest priority, the Kuki Inpi asserted that justice should not be delayed and that lasting peace cannot be achieved without accountability.
The Kuki apex body reiterated its demand for swift action to ensure that those responsible for the bombing are brought to justice and that affected communities are provided with adequate protection.
