The Kuki Students' Organisation General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) has defended media professional Tony Singsit over statements made during an interview aired by Zonet Media on May 15, asserting that his remarks were factual, evidence-based, and drawn from credible and verifiable sources.
In a statement issued on Monday, KSO-GHQ clarified that Singsit’s comments during the YouTube interview titled “Kuki-Tangkhul Conflict Explained: A Conversation from the Kuki Perspective” were not personal propaganda or fabricated claims. According to the organisation, the statements reflected positions and assertions already publicly made by Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) concerning the ambush involving three pastors.
The student body stated that Singsit was carrying out his professional responsibility as a media practitioner by reporting and presenting information available in the public domain without distortion or malicious intent.
KSO-GHQ further condemned what it described as targeted attacks and attempts to vilify Singsit personally, calling such actions “baseless, unjustified, and misleading.”
The organisation also maintained that the observations presented by Singsit regarding strategies allegedly employed by the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) to influence and mobilise other Naga tribes were neither imaginary nor fabricated, claiming that such information is already accessible through public forums and records.
According to KSO-GHQ, instead of addressing the substantive issues raised, TNL had allegedly chosen to focus on minor details in an attempt to undermine Singsit’s credibility and discredit the broader concerns highlighted during the interview.
The statement added that such diversion from the “core issues” reflected an unwillingness to confront the facts objectively and transparently.
