The Kuki Students’ Organisation General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ) has unveiled a declaration adopted during its General Assembly held from May 30 to June 2 at Leimakhong, outlining a strategic push to deepen political awareness at the grassroots level and strengthen unity among the Kuki-Zo community.
Addressing a press briefing at the KSO-GHQ office in Churachandpur on Tuesday, KSO-GHQ President Doumang Haokip stated that the assembly resolved to intensify awareness of the ongoing Kuki-Zo political movement down to the village level. The aim, he said, is to foster a more informed and united community that can effectively contribute to the broader political goals of the Kuki-Zo people.
Doumang emphasized the organisation’s commitment to collaborating with likeminded individuals and groups who are dedicated to the welfare of the Kuki-Zo community. “It is crucial that all tribes under the Kuki-Zo banner come together and work as one,” he said.
The president also highlighted education as a priority area. “Special focus will be given to educational institutions in Kuki-Zo inhabited areas. We aim to upgrade existing community schools and establish new ones in underserved regions,” he added.
Furthermore, the declaration outlined KSO-GHQ's plan to strengthen coordination with its various branches — including districts, cities, blocks, units, and grassroots chapters — to ensure a united approach.
The KSO Media and Documentation Cell will also be strengthened, with an emphasis on effectively utilizing social media platforms to promote the welfare and identity of the Kuki-Zo people.
