KMT Jangnoi Crowned Champions of the Assam Rifles’ Peace and Friendship Tournament

The mega Peace and Friendship Men’s Volleyball Tournament, jointly organized by the 16 Assam Rifles and Kangpokpi Youth Union, concluded in spectacular fashion today at the Sports Complex, Kangpokpi District Headquarters, reinforcing the Assam Rifles’ enduring commitment to fostering unity, friendship, and peace among communities.

In an electrifying final, KMT Jangnoi overpowered Danger Boys in four thrilling sets (25-13, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21) to lift the coveted Champion Trophy. The match drew roaring cheers from the packed crowd, epitomizing the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie that the tournament sought to promote.

The closing ceremony was graced by Brig. Anshuman Tripathi, DIG, 22 Sector Assam Rifles, as Chief Guest, alongside Col. Sandeep Sharma, Commandant of 16th Battalion Assam Rifles, and SP Kangpokpi Manoj Prabhakar, IPS. Local leaders, including Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills President Thangminlen Kipgen, Kuki Inpi Saikul President Thangkam Lupheng, CoTU Chairman Thanglen Kipgen, NS Gangte, KTC Chairman Seilam Singsit, members of Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation, and Kangpokpi Youth Union, were also in attendance, reflecting broad community support for the initiative.

Speaking at the event, Brig. Tripathi commended the players and organizers, stating that the Assam Rifles will continue to use sports and youth engagement as powerful tools to strengthen bonds, bridge divides, and nurture lasting peace in the region.

Individual brilliance was also recognized as Ibrahim alias Athoi of KMT Jangnoi claimed the Best Player of the Tournament award, receiving a trophy, certificate, medal, and a cash prize of ₹5,000. The runner-up Danger Boys took home a trophy, certificates, medals, and ₹20,000, while champions KMT Jangnoi bagged a trophy, certificates, medals, and a ₹30,000 cash prize.

The tournament’s resounding success not only showcased top-tier volleyball talent but also stood as a testament to how sports can unite communities and foster harmony — a mission the Assam Rifles continues to champion across the Northeast.
