Khokon United edged out Zomi Football Club in a tie-breaker to clinch the 19th State Level Hmar Martyrs Trophy 2026 today at Saikawt Playground, Churachandpur.

The closing ceremony of the State Level Hmar Martyrs Trophy was graced by the Speaker of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, Lalbiakzama, as the Chief Guest at Saikawt Playground in Churachandpur, while Mizoram MLA V. Malsawmtluanga and Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip attended the closing function as the Guest of Honour and Functional President respectively.

Ricky Lalremsang, Lalhmingthang Sanate, Lalneikung Hmar, and Laltanpui Hmar attended the closing event as Special Guests.

In today’s entertaining final match, Khokon United almost broke the deadlock in the very first minute when their striker Haoneo missed a one-on-one chance against Zomi FC goalkeeper Kaisangboi.

Later in the second half, Zomi FC skipper Henry Thanglalmuan missed a golden opportunity to put ZFC in the driving seat when his point-blank range shot was saved by Khokon custodian Jedidi Haokip.

Singdoulien Khongsai, who came on as a substitute in the second half, headed wide after failing to capitalise on a beautiful cross from the left flank. Seiminthang Haokip, another substitute striker for Khokon United, also failed to put the game to rest when his low shot struck the goalpost in the dying minutes of the match.

As the match ended in a goalless draw in normal time, it directly proceeded to a penalty shoot-out without extra time. In the ensuing shoot-out, Khokon United goalkeeper Jedidi Haokip saved three penalties, ensuring a 3-1 victory for his side.

Jedidi Haokip, for his heroic performance in the shoot-out, was awarded Man of the Match, while his counterpart Kaisangboi was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper of the tournament. Zomi FC forward Muankhanlian Tunglut, with five goals, bagged the Top Scorer award.

The champions, Khokon United, pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 1.5 lakh along with the rolling trophy.
