In a significant gesture aimed at strengthening inter-community harmony, Saitu MLA Haokholet Kipgen hosted a goodwill luncheon at his native village, Hengbung, Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi District, bringing together Rongmei Naga village leaders and representatives of the Sadar Hills Chiefs’ Association (SAHILCA) representing the Kuki-Zo community.

The informal gathering, attended by chiefs and chairmen from Chiingkhol, Siangai Namkao (Parengba), Siangai Namdai, Nunggang, Namching, Namthanjang, Khonglong, Khonglong (Part-II), Pongsinglong, Paundaijang, and Wainem, was held without any political, social, or communal agenda. Instead, it focused on fostering mutual respect, cooperation, and goodwill among neighbouring communities residing along the Kangpokpi–Churachandpur road via Leimakhong.

Earlier, the Saitu MLA had also convened a similar meeting with twelve Liangmei Naga village chiefs and chairmen dwelling along the same route, demonstrating his continuous effort to promote inter-community understanding and peaceful coexistence in the constituency.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Kipgen emphasized the indispensable role of unity in sustaining peace and progress.

“Peace and harmony among communities are the foundation for growth and stability in the constituency,” the MLA remarked, underscoring the need for understanding and cooperation across community lines.

Leaders from the Rongmei Naga villages expressed appreciation for the MLA’s initiative, describing it as a welcome effort to promote dialogue and long-term peace. Representatives from SAHILCA likewise reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening inter-community ties and working hand in hand with Rongmei village chiefs for sustainable development in the region.

The luncheon, marked by cordial interactions and mutual goodwill, concluded on a positive note — symbolizing a renewed spirit of coexistence and brotherhood in Saitu Assembly Constituency.
