The District Administration of Kangpokpi successfully conducted a large-scale Civil Defence Mock Drill, titled Operation Abhiyas, under the Civil Defence Rules, 1968, at Elite Higher Secondary School today. The exercise aimed at enhancing preparedness and coordination during emergencies such as hostile attacks.
The drill, which commenced at 9:00 AM, was carried out in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Shri Mahesh Chaudhari (IAS), Superintendent of Police Shri Manoj Prabhakar (IPS), and various other district-level officers. It included multiple simulated emergency scenarios such as distress calls, air raid sirens, firefighting operations, blackout simulations, search and rescue missions, casualty evacuation, setting up temporary medical camps, and civilian evacuation to designated safe zones.
Approximately 500 participants, including personnel from the 112 BN CRPF, fire services, medical department, NCC cadets, and local civilians, took part in the exercise. The drill also featured civil defence training to educate the public on safety protocols during hostile incidents.
During a press briefing, DC Chaudhari lauded the collective effort of all stakeholders and emphasized the importance of replicating such drills not only at the district level but also in subdivisions and larger villages. He stated that the primary goal was to instill public confidence and demonstrate the administration's readiness for any emergency.
SP Manoj Prabhakar also addressed the press, affirming that Operation Abhiyas was a planned rehearsal and urged the public to remain calm and cooperative in real emergency situations.
Present at the event were senior officials including Shri Hemant Kumar (IAS), SDO T. Waichong, Shri Shokhonem Baits (ADM, MCS 500 Kangpokpi), and Shri Doujapao Haokip (SDO, CEO SHADC), along with representatives from various departments and the general public.
