In a resounding affirmation of empowerment through skills and sustainable livelihoods, InSIDE-North East celebrated the graduation of its 21st Batch of Tailoring Training and 10th Batch of Computer Training at Saikul, Kangpokpi District. The occasion not only recognized the achievements of over 60 trainees but also marked a decisive stride toward fostering community resilience and self-reliance.
The ceremony was graced by prominent dignitaries —N. Shokhongam Baite, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi; James Doujapao Haokip, CEO of Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council; and Lamminlal Simte, SDO Champhai — who served as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and Functional President respectively. Together, they led the distribution of vital agricultural resources to local farmers under the Natural Resources Management Club, including power tillers, water pipes, farm fencing nets, sewing machines, and garlic and potato seeds aimed at promoting climate-resilient and sustainable farming practices.

Certificates were conferred upon the graduating trainees by Thangkam Lupheng, President of Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai; Samuel Misao, SDO Lhungtin Block; and Tongminthang Khongsai, Officer-in-Charge, Saikul Police Station. Their collective participation reflected a shared commitment between civil society and the administration to nurture youth potential and drive inclusive growth.
In his address, N. Shokhongam Baite underscored the transformative impact of vocational skill-building and its role in advancing sustainable livelihoods. James Doujapao Haokip emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration in bridging development gaps, while Lamminlal Simte reaffirmed the administration’s full support for grassroots empowerment initiatives.
Delivering a heartfelt appeal, Hejang Misao, Director of InSIDE-North East, urged all sections of the community to abandon poppy cultivation and embrace commercial-scale organic farming, envisioning a future where Kangpokpi becomes self-sufficient and agriculturally vibrant.
The event concluded with a blessing prayer by Pastor Hegin Misao, as participants renewed their pledge to strengthen local capacities, uphold ecological balance, and ensure that every citizen is equipped with the means for dignity, livelihood, and lasting peace.
