I-League Champion Churchill Brothers Captain Gogou Hangsing Receives Warm Reception in Churachandpur

Lamgoulen @Gogou Hangsing, captain of I-League champions Churchill Brothers FC, was accorded a warm reception by the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Churachandpur, on Wednesday in recognition of his outstanding football career and recent achievements.

The felicitation event was held at the Kuki Inpi Churachandpur Hall in Tuibong and attended by community leaders, sports enthusiasts, and well-wishers. KSO Churachandpur president T. Letminlen Haokip highlighted Gogou Hangsing’s football journey and lauded his dedication, calling him a source of inspiration for the Kuki-Zo community.

Gogou began his professional football career with Dorcas Road Soccer Club in 2012-13 and went on to play for several Manipur-based clubs, including Ranger United SS, Headquarter FC, Zomi FC, and FC Zalen in the Manipur State League. His performance earned him a spot with Bengaluru FC in the I-League 2nd Division before he joined Churchill Brothers FC in 2018.

His leadership played a crucial role in Churchill Brothers' recent I-League triumph, and he was named the club’s Player of the Season for 2024–25. Gogou has also represented Manipur in the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (2015) and the Santosh Trophy (2017–18).

Among his individual accolades, Gogou won the Best Striker award at the Tamchon Trophy in Delhi in 2015 and was named Best Player of the same tournament in 2018.
