The Government of India has invited nominations for the Padma Awards — Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri — which are among the highest civilian honours in the country. Instituted in 1954, these awards are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day and recognize exceptional achievements and service in various disciplines, including Art, Literature and Education, Science and Engineering, Public Affairs, Sports, Medicine, Social Work, Civil Service, Trade and Industry, among others.
In this connection, a meeting of the Special Search Committee was held on May 5, 2025 at 12:30 PM, chaired by P.K. Singh, Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur, to identify, consider and finalize State Government recommendations/nominations for Padma Awards to be announced on the occasion of Republic Day, 2026.
During the meeting, the Commissioner (Home) gave a detailed presentation based on the Ministry of Home Affairs' letter (D.O. No. 1/8/2025-Public dated March 15, 2025), which invited nominations from State/UT Governments for the Padma Awards 2026.
In pursuance with this directive, the State Government has constituted a Special Search Committee headed by the Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur, to ensure comprehensive identification and nomination of deserving individuals from the State.
All Administrative Secretaries and Deputy Commissioners have been directed to identify deserving individuals who have demonstrated distinguished and exceptional achievements or service in their respective fields/disciplines.
Additionally, steps are being taken to ensure wide public dissemination of the nomination process to the general public to encourage wide participation.
All nominations must be submitted in the prescribed format as available on the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal https://awards.gov.in , along with softcopies containing all relevant details.
All complete proposals must be submitted to the Home Department by 14th July, 2025 for review and further processing. The final uploading of approved nominations must be completed by the deadline set by the Ministry of Home Affairs i.e. 31st July, 2025.
