Showcasing grit, skill, and an unyielding fighting spirit, Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) Gamnom Saparmeina emerged as the Runner-Up in the prestigious CBSE Far East Zone U-19 Girls Football Tournament 2025, held from August 1–5 at Infocus India Public School, Bira, Balisha, Barasat, West Bengal.

The spirited side from Kangpokpi district made a blazing start to their campaign, steamrolling their opponents in the league stage. In their opening match, they demolished SBOA, Guwahati 6-0, with Lamgoulhing Haokip leading the charge with a brilliant hattrick, supported by Lamdeihat Dimngel’s brace and a goal from Hatneiching Khongsai.

The winning momentum continued in their second outing as they thrashed North Point Higher Secondary Boarding School, Kolkata 5-0. Goals came from all directions — Lamgoulhing Haokip, Hoineikim Lotzem, Lhingnunnem Haokip, Lamjoythem Kipgen, and Hatneiching Khongsai each finding the back of the net.

The final match turned into a battle of nerves as EMRS Gamnom Saparmeina faced title favourites South Point, Guwahati. Both teams locked horns in a tense goalless draw through regulation time. The championship was ultimately decided in a penalty shootout, where South Point edged out EMRS Gamnom Saparmeina 4-2.

Despite the heartbreak in penalties, the girls from EMRS earned admiration for their disciplined play, teamwork, and never-say-die attitude.
