Doctors, Nurses Urged to Resume Duties at Moreh Health Facilities

HTC Warns of Public Agitation if Medical Services Remain Disrupted
By THJ Desk — On April 30, 2026

The Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Moreh, on behalf of the general public, has issued a strong appeal to doctors and nurses posted at Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH), Moreh and Primary Health Centre (PHC), Moreh to resume their duties immediately on humanitarian grounds.

In a statement, the council highlighted that residents of Moreh have repeatedly faced the unavailability of medical personnel, forcing patients to endure illness without proper treatment and putting lives at risk. The HTC stressed that such lapses in essential healthcare services have caused serious hardship to the public.

The council noted that despite the absence of communal violence in the area—credited to the efforts of civil society organisations—some medical staff have remained absent from duty even after being assured of their safety. This, it said, has effectively paralysed healthcare services in the town.

Warning of possible action, the HTC stated that if the situation persists, the public may be compelled to launch various forms of agitation, including opposing the continued posting of such doctors and nurses in Moreh.

At the same time, the council appealed to individuals and organisations to extend full cooperation to medical personnel, bank staff, and other institutions. It also urged the public to refrain from communal incitement and instead promote harmony and unity in the district.
