Demanding justice for late Manipur BJP MLA from Thanlon assembly constituency in Churachandpur district of Manipur, Vungzagin Valte, BJP Thanlon Mandal holds peaceful sit in protest near Churachandpur Medical College gate on Monday.
The sit in protest began around 11 in the morning. Protestors including women were seen holding different placards such as,'assembly resumes justice still waiting,’ justice for vungzagin Valte', 'democracy demands justice',
Speaking to The Hills Journal ,a representative of Thanlon BJP Mandal, Mang said the sit in protest has been organised because MLA Vungzagin Valte who is the the advisor to former chief minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh was waylaid on May 4, 2023 at RIMS road by members of Arambai Tenggol.
After three years now, there is no justice even from the Central Bureau of Investigation and National Investigation Agency even though the family members raised a petition for the same.
Mang said, "Despite the central and state government rule by BJP if they cannot protect their legislature, how can we expect anything from the government. It shows the weakness of their governance ".
While a sitting MLA lying unburied in cold storage, the assembly session has been conducted starting from today. So we are hurt and we have lost our faith in the government, he added.
In the future, we will be deciding whether we will be align with BJP in the upcoming assembly election if the MLA does not get justice in the BJP government said Mang.
