
In a significant community outreach initiative, the 112 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has renovated the Community Hall at Gelnel Village along IT Road in Kangpokpi district, Manipur, reinforcing its commitment to grassroots development and stronger civil-security relations.
The renovation work was carried out by E Company of 112 Bn CRPF under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) for 2025–2026 and under the aegis of the Inspector General, Manipur and Nagaland Sector.
The refurbished facility was formally inaugurated by the Chief of Gelnel Village, Thangsat Khongsai, in the presence of E Company Commander Shivraj Mahualay and Company Second-in-Command Inspector (GD) Deepak.

Officials said the upgraded community hall is expected to serve as a multi-purpose facility for the village, particularly benefiting the youth. Apart from hosting community gatherings and social events, the hall will also be used for indoor recreational activities, including badminton and other games, thereby providing a constructive platform for young people in the area.

Residents of Gelnel Village expressed gratitude to the CRPF for undertaking the renovation, stating that such initiatives significantly contribute to local development and help foster mutual trust and cooperation between security forces and civil society.
The CRPF said the initiative forms part of its broader effort to support local communities in areas of deployment while promoting social cohesion and youth engagement.
