Protests intensified in Imphal on Wednesday over the Tronglaobi incident that occurred on Tuesday.

The protest, spearheaded by the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), began at WAL United Club, Wangkhei. Demanding the resignation of the Manipur Chief Minister and Home Minister on moral grounds, the protesters attempted to march towards the Chief Minister’s bungalow.

However, central and state security forces intercepted the rally shortly after it began, preventing the crowd from advancing further.

As some protesters attempted to push forward and continue the march, security personnel used tear gas and mock bombs to disperse the gathering and bring the situation under control.

Later, a representative of the protesters was escorted to the Chief Minister’s bungalow for talks.
