Churachandpur police along with food safety officials in the district seized three packets of Mauli snack while conducting a drive in bazar areas of the district on Nov 10.
The drive was conducted following an incident in Bungmual village in Churachandpur wherein three children were reportedly hospitalised after consuming Mauli snack.
It is learnt that Food Safety officials and Police personnel conducted a drive around Thangzam Road, New Bazar, Rengkai and Zenhang Bazar and seized three packets of Mauli snack from one Manoj Variety Store. Food safety officials took the snack for further investigation.
Recently, there have been reports of incident in Ukhrul this month, wherein around 30 students of KTL Excel Higher Secondary School, Ukhrul, reportedly fell ill after consuming Mauli snack sold near the school.
There was also a report of an incident in Senapati district wherein students of St. Anthony’s School in Taphou, Senapati district fell ill with symptoms of vomiting after consuming a packaged snack ‘Mauli’.
