
The District Health Society, Churachandpur, Manipur, on Wednesday launched the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2026 with the theme: "Prevent Diarrhoea, Maintain Cleanliness, and Take Care of Yourself with ORS."
The launch programme was held at the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre in Leisang Village. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ph. Henkhonrng Mate officially launched the campaign.
Villagers, especially women, children, village authority leaders, health officials, ASHA workers, and Anganwadi workers attended the programme.
During the programme, officials informed the gathering about precautionary measures to prevent diarrhoea among children and demonstrated how to prepare ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) at home.
They also urged parents to visit the nearest hospital if home treatment for diarrhoea proves ineffective.
District Nodal Officer (Child Health), District Health Society, Dr. Jire L. Pudaite, said the target for Churachandpur district is 32,984 beneficiaries across four health blocks.
Dr. Pudaite said that, during the last financial year, 726 children below the age of five were admitted to the district hospital due to diarrhoea. However, no deaths due to diarrhoea were reported during the period.
The nodal officer also said that the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign has been conducted annually since 2014.
Describing the campaign as a great success, Dr. Pudaite wished ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, the Department of Education, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), and all other stakeholders involved in the campaign continued success.
