Demanding justice for Kuki Zomi Hmar martyrs, Central Village Defence Force organise road march in Churachandpur district of Manipur

If a sitting BJP MLA could not get justice in three years time, justice for the rest who had been burned, raped or those who succumbed to their injuries and for all those who have died is a far cry for them said Rose.

Demanding justice for Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte and all Kuki Zomi Hmar martyrs of Manipur conflict, Central Village Defence Force organise road march in Churachandpur district of Manipur on Friday evening.

The road march began around 6 in the evening at CVDF office and participants march towards Public ground in Hiangtam Lamka wherein a homage ceremony was held . During the homage ceremony, a gun salute was given to the martyrs and flying lanterns were also released.

Leaders of several society organisations and student bodies address the gathering during the homage ceremony.

Liaison officer CVDF Rose Ngaihte said the road march has been organized to show disappointment and disillusionment at the delayed justice, especially for Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte a sitting MLA who was brutally assaulted on the 4th of May 2023 and he succumbed to his injuries a few days back.

If a sitting BJP MLA could not get justice in three years time, justice for the rest who had been burned, raped or those who succumbed to their injuries and for all those who have died is a far cry for them said Rose.

She added that turn out in the road march shows how raw still the wounds are.
Rose said, “why do we have to keep asking for justice. In a democratic country as in India, justice is to be given to the people, justice is our right. But we have to marched for it, hold dharna for it and resort to all sorts to demand justice which is quiet shocking”.

Stating that a sitting BJP MLA could not get justice until now, Rose raised questions as to what the central and the state government has been doing all this time and she claimed that nothing has been done.

“We want justice to speed up, expedite political autonomy and we demand justice not only for MLA Vungzagin Valte but for all those who have laid down their lives whose bodies are laid down at Sehken Martyrs cemetery” said Rose. CVDF is a centralised network of village volunteers formed after the 3rd May 2023 violence to coordinate defence of Kuki-Zomi-Hmar villages. @⁨Ayushi Ians Dhyani⁩
