In a solemn ceremony held at the New Zou Veng cemetery in Churachandpur, Manipur, the Assam Rifles, under the aegis of IGAR (South), accorded full military honors to Sepoy Alex Thangminlian Samte of the 4 Assam Regiment, who tragically succumbed to cancer on June 8 at Command Hospital, Lucknow.
The funeral ceremony was attended by senior officers, fellow soldiers, and local dignitaries, who gathered to pay their final respects to the dedicated soldier.
Sepoy Samte, known for his unwavering commitment and service to the nation, had been diagnosed with cancer in June 2024 and had been undergoing treatment over the past year.
With a ceremonial guard of honor, wreath-laying, and a moment of silence, the Assam Rifles paid tribute to their fallen comrade. His passing has deeply impacted not only his regiment but also the wider military fraternity and community.
In a message of solidarity, the Assam Rifles expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and assured continued support during this time of loss.
