The two-day long Platinum Jubilee celebration of South Changoubung Baptist Church Women's Department culminated in style in Kangpokpi District.

The South Changoubung Baptist Church (SCBC) Women’s Department on January 15 marked a historic milestone as it formally inaugurated its Platinum Jubilee (75 years) with a spiritually rich and ceremonially grand opening programme, reaffirming unwavering faith in God’s guidance and blessings over the past seven and a half decades.

The programme commenced with an opening prayer, invoking God’s presence and thanksgiving for His unfailing grace that has sustained the Women’s Department through generations of service, sacrifice, and spiritual growth. This was followed by a welcome address by the Church Chairman, who reflected on the journey of faith, resilience, and commitment that has defined the department since its inception.

One of the most solemn and symbolic moments of the ceremony was the flag hoisting by the Chief Guest, Rev. Thangsat Kipgen, on behalf of Nemcha Kipgen, MLA Kangpokpi AC. The hoisting of the Jubilee flag marked the official commencement of the Platinum Jubilee year, symbolising hope, unity, and steadfast faith under the banner of the Lord.

The ceremony was further elevated by the release of Jubilee balloons, representing prayers of gratitude and dedication rising heavenward, acknowledging God as the ultimate guide and protector of the Church and its people. A gun salute followed, lending dignity and honour to the historic occasion.

A key highlight of the programme was the implantation of the Jubilee flag, carried out jointly by the guests and contingents. This act stood as a powerful declaration of continuity, collective responsibility, and renewed commitment to uphold Christian values for generations to come. The Jubilee Choir then rendered the theme song, echoing the spirit of thanksgiving and trust in God, inspired by the theme “The Lord Is My Banner” (Exodus 17:15).

The programme witnessed another landmark moment with the ribbon cutting and dedication of the Jubilee Hall by the event Minister, Pastor Songthang Lotzem, formally setting apart the hall for God’s glory and community service. The dedication prayer underscored gratitude to the Almighty for enabling the Church to reach this milestone and for providing resources, leadership, and unity over 75 years.

Delivering the keynote address, the Chairperson of the Women’s Department, Kimlam Vaiphei highlighted the vital role played by women in strengthening the Church’s spiritual, social, and moral foundations, attributing every achievement solely to God’s grace and divine guidance.

Speeches by the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, and Functional Presidents acknowledged the SCBC Women’s Department as a pillar of faith, discipline, and service, while urging the congregation to remain rooted in God’s word as they move forward.

A special number added spiritual depth to the programme, after which a heartfelt vote of thanks was extended by the Jubilee Committee Chairperson, expressing gratitude to God Almighty, dignitaries, organisers, and the congregation for making the opening ceremony a success.

The concluding day of the Jubilee celebration was solemnly observed with a series of spiritually significant events, beginning with the unveiling of the Jubilee monolith by Pastor Songthang Lotzem, Local Church Pastor, symbolising the enduring faith, legacy, and steadfast journey of the Church over the past 75 years. This was followed by the release of the Jubilee Souvenir by Rev. S. Vaiphei, Pastor, KBC No. 19, capturing the history, testimonies, and milestones of the Jubilee journey. Pastor Paotingen Vaiphei delivered the Jubilee message, exhorting the congregation to remain rooted in Christ, give thanks for God’s unfailing guidance, and carry forward the vision and mission of the Church with renewed faith and commitment.

The programme concluded with a closing prayer, once again committing the entire Jubilee year into God’s hands, thanking Him for His faithfulness over 75 years, and seeking His continued guidance and blessings for the years ahead.

The Platinum Jubilee opening ceremony stood not merely as a celebration of time passed, but as a profound testimony of faith—acknowledging that every step, achievement, and survival of the past 75 years has been under the unfailing banner of the Lord.
