Security forces killed four cadres of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) during an operation at Khanpi village under Churachandpur district on Tuesday morning.

Sources stated that three security personnel also sustained injuries.

According to the security forces, militants resorted to unprovoked firing on an Indian Army column at Khanpi village, approximately 80 km west of Churachandpur in Manipur, during an intelligence-based operation.

In the ensuing firefight between the security forces and armed cadres of the UKNA, a non-SOO insurgent group, four cadres of the militant group were neutralised.

The operation is still in progress, along with a search of the adjoining areas.

The operation follows recent atrocities committed by UKNA cadres, including the killing of a village chief, intimidation of locals, and attempts to disrupt peace and stability in the region.

The bodies of the deceased UKNA cadres have been brought to Churachandpur District Hospital. Till the filing of this report, the identities of the deceased UKNA cadres and the injured security personnel had not yet been confirmed.
