The Motbung Youth Club has issued a strong rebuttal against the fabricated narrative recently circulated by certain vested groups over the September 17 incident at Motbung.

In a press clarification released today, the Club condemned what it described as “highly regretful and uncalled-for attempts” to distort a minor verbal altercation between an auto driver, Kingson Kashung, and a local youth from K. Phoipi village into a communal flashpoint.

After a thorough inquiry with several eyewitnesses and local civil bodies, it was established that the accused individual was of unsound mind, a patient at a rehabilitation center in the vicinity, who had absconded without permission, the statement said.

The Motbung Youth Club further emphasized that he had no link whatsoever with any organization or any Kuki arm group under Suspension of Operation (SoO) recognized by the Government of India.

The Club also reminded that the individual has already been apprehended by police authorities, leaving no room for false narratives.

“The attempt to mislead the public by painting this incident as an organized attack is nothing but a desperate bid to spread communal disharmony. Such propaganda is dangerous, irresponsible, and must be condemned in the strongest terms,” the Club declared.

Appealing to all responsible organizations, the Club urged restraint and accountability in public statements, warning that reckless and one-sided reporting could sow needless mistrust among peacefully coexisting communities.

The Motbung Youth Club reaffirmed its commitment to peace, truth, and communal harmony, and cautioned against “opportunistic elements” who exploit isolated incidents to further divisive agendas.
