The 79th Independence Day, 2025 organised by the District Administration Kangpokpi was celebrated at Brigadier M. Thomas Ground.

Chief Guest of the function, Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi, Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS unfurled the National Flag with the tune of the National anthem in the background. Later the DC took salute of 24 marching contingent from Police, VDF, NCC and several government and private schools in the district. The parade was commanded by L Lhunminlal Khongsai MPS, SDPO Kangpokpi.

The Deputy Commissioner of Kangpokpi extended good wishes to the general public on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day celebration.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest emphises Today's events as a truly magnificent day with the vibrant colors of nature and the lively contingents gathered together. This is the perfect time for us to come together as a community and discuss our future plans and programs. As the district administration, we have some exciting initiatives planned and urge all of you to support us in our endeavors. One of the major plans is to improve the traffic system in Kangpokpi. I would like to congratulate and appreciate the Superintendent of Police for taking the initiative to create a dedicated traffic unit within a month. This will greatly improve the traffic situation in our district, but it can only be successful with the cooperation of our citizens, especially commuters.

Furthermore, we are also implementing a public parking system in Kangpokpi from 15th September. The joint team of SP officers is working hard to identify dedicated parking spots in our headquarters and along the national highway. We will also introduce paid parking system and an odd-even parking system to alleviate traffic congestion. This is just one of the many initiatives we have planned for our highways, which are not only beautiful but also crucial for transportation in our district. However, we have noticed that some people have been encroaching on these highways by building houses or temporary structures. To address this issue, we will be conducting an irrigation drive after 25th August. I request everyone to cooperate with us in keeping our highways free from encroachment. Let us work together to make Kangpokpi a better place for everyone.

Later appreciation certificates were handed out to government employees, the event was followed by  cultural troupe from  Thangal Naga, ITI Thadou-Kuki dance troupe & Nepali dance by Kalapahar high school

Today's event was also attended by SP Kangpokpi Manoj Prabhakar, IPS; N.Shokngam Baite, ADM, MCS; James Doujapao MCS SH-ADC, SDO's, DLO's, citizen of Kangpokpi among others. (DIO)
