The 79th Indian Independence Day celebration was held at Sangaikot Sub-Division in Churachandpur district under the aegis of the Assam Rifles with grandeur, pride, and overwhelming public participation. The event became a vibrant expression of unity and patriotism.

The festivities kicked off earlier in the week with the “Company Commander’s Day Out” as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. Assam Rifles personnel engaged with local communities, fostering a sense of national pride. Schools participated by taking the National Integration Pledge, sowing the seeds of unity, discipline, and love for the country among students.

On Independence Day, the streets of Sangaikot were awash in the colors of the national flag as the Tiranga Shobha Yatra (Unity March) — organised by the 36 Assam Rifles — saw students, civilians, and local leaders marching shoulder to shoulder. With tricolors held high and hearts beating in unison, the community displayed a powerful message of solidarity.

The ceremonial flag hoisting, the Rashtriya Salute, and impassioned speeches by dignitaries paid tribute to the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters. Cultural programs, patriotic songs, traditional dances, and skits celebrated the spirit of a diverse yet united India.

Over 4,000 participants — including students, women, children, and community members — came together, transforming the day into a festival of national pride.

The Assam Rifles reaffirmed its dual commitment: protecting the nation’s borders and strengthening the social fabric that binds the country together.
