UPF, KNO and MHA Hold Crucial Talks in Delhi; SoO Extension and Political Solution on the Horizon

In a significant development towards resolving longstanding issues in Manipur, a high-level meeting was held on August 5 between representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the United People's Front (UPF), and the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) in New Delhi.

The meeting centered on the extension of the ongoing Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement and the pursuit of a lasting political solution. Key discussions included the revision of the SoO ground rules, consolidation and relocation of designated camps, and other logistical aspects critical to the peace process.

According to the joint press communique signed by Aaron Kipgen, Spokesperson UPF and Seilen Haokip, Spokesperson KNO, both UPF and KNO leadership termed the meeting "constructive and forward-moving," expressing satisfaction over the outcome. According to official spokespersons from both groups, all major issues were deliberated thoroughly, culminating in a mutual agreement on the key points. The parties expressed optimism for an early signing of a comprehensive agreement, signaling renewed hope for peace and stability in the region.
