
Manipur Police have arrested a commander of Arambai Tenggol, Longjam Khaba, who is the prime accused in the murder of Md Chesam Abdul Kadir of Paobitek Mayai Leikai.
According to police reports, Longjam Khaba, also known as Boi, aged 35, of Yumnam Huidrom Thiyam Leishangkhong, was arrested on Sunday at Mongsangei Makha Leikai Aribam Leikai near Puthiba Laibung Complex, Imphal West.
In connection with the case, a total of 10 persons have been arrested, including Longjam Khaba. Among them, seven are members of Arambai Tenggol and three are civilians.
Abdul Kadir was reportedly kidnapped by unknown miscreants on June 10 from Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai, under the jurisdiction of Wangoi Police Station. His whereabouts remained unknown for several days. Subsequently, Abdul Kadir’s family filed a missing person complaint.
On June 17, Abdul Kadir’s body was found near the Nambul River between Samurou and Thounaojam in Imphal West district.
