In a remarkable gesture of gratitude and support, the 10th Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) organized a Pension Mela at Peace Ground, Churachandpur, to honour its retired personnel and address their welfare needs. The event reflected the Force’s continued commitment to the well-being of its veterans and their families.

The Mela was graced by Brigadier (Retd.) Dipankar Saha, DIG, SHQ BSF (CI OPS) Manipur, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address, Brigadier Saha reassured the veterans of the BSF’s unwavering support:

"We are committed to supporting your needs, addressing any concerns you raise, and ensuring that your post-retirement journey remains secure and dignified. This gathering is only the beginning of a stronger support structure for our retired personnel."

The event witnessed the participation of over 60 BSF veterans, along with Next of Kin (NoK) of BSF Martyrs, symbolizing the deep-rooted connection between the BSF and its extended family. A special medical camp, overseen by the Unit Medical Officer, provided free health check-ups for retirees. Additionally, help desks were set up to resolve pension-related issues and handle other administrative concerns on the spot.

Veterans raised suggestions regarding the issuance of pensioner I-Cards and requested the provision of KPKB (Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar) facilities in Churachandpur. Responding positively, the DIG assured that all assistance would be extended, and confirmed that KPKB services will now be made available monthly at the BSF Post, Peace Ground.

The Mela concluded with a warm session of lunch and refreshments, offering a relaxed atmosphere for fellowship and interaction among serving and retired personnel.

This successful initiative highlighted the BSF’s enduring respect for its veterans and marked a step forward in strengthening its bond with those who have served the nation with distinction. The Force has pledged to conduct such events more frequently, reinforcing its commitment to the welfare of its brave retirees.
