Nine deaths confirmed during separate incidents in Manipur

Working Committee, Joint Tribe Council Manipur stated that four naga civilians were killed and two other sustain injuries in an attack on Makui and Taponj Naga Village in Kangpokpi district on October 10.

Following the incident on October 9 at Chassad village in Kamjong district wherein a Kuki Zo women succumbed to her injuries , different incidents have been reported in Ukhrul, Kamjong and Kangpokpi districts with confirmed deaths of another 8 individuals.

On the night of October 9, Domkhonei Touthang, a resident of Chassad village in Kamjong district and mother of five,  died from gunshot injuries.

According to information received, the incident occurred at around 9:35 p.m. during a protest against the alleged arbitrary arrest and detention of Chassad Village Volunteers. The kuki groups have alleged that the gunshots were fired by   by Indian Reserve Battallion personnels during the protest.

The woman reportedly succumbed to her injuries at approximately 9:40 p.m. 

In a separate incident, Michael Ngamminlen Haokip from Kuki Zo community was reportedly killed during violence in Chassad in the early hours of October 10 while a farmer Sandeep Rai from Gorkha community was reportedly ambushed at around 6 am on October 10 by unknown miscreants while travelling towards his farmland at Chepu Yaolen in Ukhrul district.

As per reports two from Tangkhul Naga community from Ningchou village in Kamjong district were killed in an ambush in the village. The two victims have been identified as Leishisan Hungyo and his nephew, Ngachanso Ningshen.

Meanwhile, Working Committee, Joint Tribe Council Manipur stated that four naga civilians were killed and two other sustain injuries in an attack on Makui and Taponj Naga Village in Kangpokpi district on October 10.

As per committee, the four naga civilians are Machungamang Daimai (NVG) son of Ajanbou Daimai, confirmed death from ambush at Tapon village, Dibambou Ringkangmai son of Kingsubui Ringkangmai, 48 yrs, confirmed death at Makui , his head smashed and deformed, Ajinbou R. son of Namhothiubou Ringkangmai, 52 yrs, confirmed death, chopped and killed at Makui—Thanamba village (villager), his head missing; and 4. Ramningpou Gangmei (NVG) s/o Lungsangpou Gangmei of Luangchum village, Tamenglong, age 53. 

The committee stated that  Mathangambou Chawang s/o Adibou, Kadi-2, and Nashon Pame s/o Mereikeu Pame, Impa village also sustain injuries.
