
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), under the aegis of the Inspector General of Police, M&N Sector, CRPF, in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI), organised Men’s and Women’s Doubles Badminton events under the SPANDAN (Sports for Peace and Development Across the Nation) initiative at the Community Badminton Hall in Kangpokpi district from October 2 to 3, 2026.
The initiative was aimed at engaging local youth through sports and promoting peace, harmony and community development in the area.
The Women’s Doubles Badminton event, organised by B/155 Battalion CRPF, was inaugurated in the presence of Rahul Gupta, IPS, SP, Kangpokpi, who attended as the Chief Guest. Deepak Kumar, 2nd-in-Command, 112 Battalion CRPF, along with officers of 112 Battalion and B/155 Battalion, also attended the opening ceremony.
A total of 52 women personnel participated in the competition. Following a day-long series of matches conducted in Group A and Group B, Tingsharon Haokip and Nemneichong Haokip emerged as the winners. Tingjavah Hangshing and Thatneichong Haokip secured second place, while Hoineithem Lily Doungel and Lhingdeihoi Hangsing finished third.
The Men’s Doubles Badminton event, organised by 112 Battalion CRPF, also witnessed enthusiastic participation, with 74 personnel taking part. In the final, Mimin Hangshing and Paolenmang Lhouvum secured the first position, followed by Jangkhohao Chongloi and Henminthang Kipgen in second place. Robert Lhungdim and Lunjemson Vaiphei finished third.

The closing ceremony of both events was attended by Rajesh Kumar, DIG (Operations), Range KPI/KMA, as Chief Guest, and Deepak Kumar, 2nd-in-Command, 112 Battalion, as Guest of Honour. Officers from 112 Battalion CRPF and other participating units were also present.
The winning teams in both categories were awarded ₹10,000, while the second- and third-place teams received ₹6,000 and ₹4,000, respectively. Each player was also presented with a medal and certificate by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.
Addressing the participants, DIG (Operations) Rajesh Kumar congratulated all the players for their enthusiastic participation and thanked the officials of the Community Badminton Hall, Kangpokpi, for their cooperation in making the events successful. He said the CRPF would continue undertaking community-oriented activities aimed at contributing to development, peace and harmony in the area.

Kumar also expressed appreciation to the 112 Battalion and the CRPF for organising initiatives that provide opportunities for people to come together through sport, particularly during challenging circumstances. He assured the continued cooperation and support of the CAPFs deployed in the area.
The two-day SPANDAN badminton events concluded with a vote of thanks from the officers of 112 Battalion CRPF.
