
A field hut belonging to a Kuki community from Khunkho Kuki village near Leimakhong in Saitu assembly constituency,Kangpokpi district was set ablazed on Saturday.
71 year old Hemjang Haokip from Khunkho village has also been reported missing following the incident .
As per sources, many villagers did not go to the field on Saturday due to the rainfall and as such they came to know about the incident only in the evening. Besides, Hemjang Haokip usually spend night in his hut in the field.
Upon receiving information that a hut was set ablaze and a villager was also missing, the villagers started looking for Hemjang till dark but the search remain futile.
As it was getting dark and given the prevailing situation between different communities in the State, the villager have decided to halt the search during night.
In a release, The Kuki Youth Organisation Leimakhong block claimed Hemjang Haokip was captured at his field at around 3 in the evening and the organisation attributed the abduction to NSCN IM.
KYO Leimakhong Block demands the immediate and safe return of the abducted person and also call upon the authorities and security agencies to take urgent action, intensify the search, and ensure that every person found responsible for the abduction and burning of the small hut are brought to justice.
KYO issues stern warning to NSCN-IM and every individual or group involved in this incident that the safety of innocent civilians must not be taken for granted.
