District Administration Reviews Independence Day Preparations in Churachandpur

As part of the Independence Day programme, the district administration will organise a bike rally on Thursday.

The Churachandpur district administration today reviewed preparations for the district-level Independence Day celebration scheduled to be held at Peace Ground, Tuibong.

The review meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, IAS, was held at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Heads of departments and district-level officers briefed the Deputy Commissioner on the progress of arrangements since the previous review meeting held on August 3.

Among those present at the meeting were Superintendent of Police Gaurav Dogra, IPS, the Divisional Forest Officer, Commanding Officer of the 1st Indian Reserve Battalion, Chief Executive Officer of the Autonomous District Council, Project Director of the District Rural Development Agency and all Sub-Divisional Officers.

As part of the Independence Day programme, the district administration will organise a bike rally on Thursday.

Participants will assemble at Peace Ground, Tuibong, national song will be sung before the rally is flagged off at 7 a.m. The rally will pass through major routes in the town and culminate at Geljang Resort.

A full-dress rehearsal for the Independence Day celebrations will also be held at Peace Ground, Tuibong, on Thursday.

Kumar called for collective efforts by all departments, saying that the successful conduct of the celebrations would reflect the district’s unity and patriotic spirit ahead of Independence Day. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for punctuality and close coordination among departments to ensure that the celebrations were conducted in a dignified and orderly manner.

Meanwhile, schools across Churachandpur district have joined the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026, with students participating in a range of activities in accordance with the Directorate of Education’s circular.

On August 12, schools conducted flag-hoisting ceremonies and group singing of Vande Mataramduring morning assemblies. Students also took part in Tiranga-themed artwork on August 11, while a youth pledge was administered during school assemblies on the same day.

The activities are part of the district’s preparations to mark Independence Day and promote awareness of the national flag and patriotic values among students. (DIO)
