The All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM) has served an ultimatum to the Government of Manipur to establish the condition and whereabouts of the six Naga hostages and hand them over to the Naga people within four days from May 29.
ANSAM warned that it would be compelled to collectively boycott the present Government of Manipur if it fails to establish the condition of the Naga hostages within the stipulated time.
In a release issued on Friday, ANSAM also stated that it may appeal to all Naga legislators supporting the present government to withdraw their support in the larger interest and security of the Naga people and support the movement.
ANSAM stated that an emergency Presidential Council meeting, along with its former leaders, was convened on May 24 regarding the prevailing situation and crisis in the state of Manipur, including the abduction of 18 Liangmai Naga hostages by armed militants under SoO, along with the Leilon Vaiphei villagers, on May 13 from Leilon Vaiphei village during broad daylight near Leimakhong 57 Mountain Division of the Indian Army, wherein different resolutions were adopted.
The association questioned the sincerity of the Central and State Governments’ decision to appoint Nemcha Kipgen, the spouse of the chairman of the militant KNF(P) group, to the position of Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, as well as the government’s inability to take appropriate action against Semtinthang @ Thangboi Kipgen, Chairman of KNF(P), and Aaron Kipgen, spokesperson of KNF, in accordance with constitutional law, despite allegations that they are involved in the abduction of the Naga hostages. It further stated that people are facing serious security concerns due to their unlawful military operations in the Naga ancestral homeland.
The association also questioned Govindas Konthoujam, the Home Minister of Manipur, for his “blatant lies and denial of the facts even after ground evidence of the barbaric cross-border terrorist aggression perpetrated by armed militants under SoO and the foreign Burma-based People’s Defence Force (PDF), jointly with the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B), aided by the Kukis, attacked innocent Naga villages along the Indo-Myanmar frontier in the Kamjong area of Ukhrul on May 7, 2026.”
In the common interest of bringing peace and tranquillity to the state, the association also demanded the immediate booking of the perpetrators involved in the massacre of Wilson Thanga at the Joujantek ambush, the killing of two Naga civilians at the TM Kasom ambush, and the killing of three Thadou church leaders in the ambush between Kotzim and Kotlen in a Kuki-dominated area.
ANSAM also demanded the immediate abrogation of the SoO agreement between the militants and the Government of India, alleging that it has become “a license to kill and abduct innocent civilians,” and called for the removal of Nemcha Kipgen from the post of Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur.
The association appealed to all concerned authorities to act with utmost urgency to prevent further escalation of the situation.
