The Kuki Inpi Manipur has announced a nationwide rally to be held on May 30, 2026, protesting what it described as the “ongoing persecution and targeted victimisation” of the Kuki-Zo people in Manipur.

The announcement follows Resolution No. 3 adopted during a joint meeting of Kuki Inpi Manipur and several civil society organisations on May 26, 2026. According to the organisation, Kuki-Zo communities and affiliated groups across India are expected to participate in coordinated demonstrations under a common banner and theme.

The rally is being organised in response to the killing of three Kuki-Zo church leaders — Rev. V. Sitlhou, Rev. Kaigoulun, and Pastor Paogoulen — an incident that the organisation said has caused widespread grief and outrage within the community. Kuki Inpi Manipur alleged that authorities have failed to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The organisation also raised concerns over the alleged detention of 14 Kuki-Zo civilians in Senapati district, claiming they are being held by Tangkhul-Liangmai civil society groups. It described the incident as a violation of human rights, constitutional principles, and the rule of law.

Kuki Inpi Manipur has appealed to Kuki-Zo civil society organisations, student bodies, women’s groups, youth organisations, churches, and community leaders to organise the rallies peacefully and democratically in their respective regions.

“The Kuki-Zo people everywhere shall stand united and resolute in defending justice, human dignity, and the fundamental rights of the community,” the statement said.

The planned demonstrations are expected to take place in multiple states with significant Kuki-Zo populations and diaspora communities.
