The organisations also demanded the safe release of hostages reportedly captured on both sides amid the ongoing tensions.
According to the statement, the indefinite economic blockade will remain in force until the hostages are safely released and justice is delivered to the deceased religious leaders.
The CSOs further appealed to the government authorities to conduct an impartial enquiry into the incident and take immediate steps to secure the release of the hostages. They stated that such measures are necessary to ensure justice and promote communal harmony in the state.
The organisations maintained that the blockade has been called in the interest of the general public and as a response to the continuing unrest in the region.
