The Kuki Students Organisation Churachandpur has imposed an emergency shutdown in Churachandpur district following the ambush and brutal killing of innocent Thadou Baptist Association church leaders on Wednesday.

According to reports, business establishments across the district began shutting down around 3 PM as volunteers enforcing the shutdown took to the streets, blocked roads, and ensured compliance with the protest call.

Meanwhile, Kuki Inpi Manipur, the apex body of the Kuki community in the state, has announced a two-day mourning period beginning midnight of May 13 and continuing until midnight of May 15.

Several civil society organisations and student bodies have also strongly condemned the incident, expressing grief over the killings and demanding justice for the victims.
