Assam Rifles Arrests UKNA Cadre in Churachandpur

The 5 Assam Rifles arrested one cadre of a non-SoO signatory Kuki armed group, United Kuki National Army (UKNA), from M. Songgel Village on Tuesday.

As per police, the arrested UKNA cadre has been identified as SS/Lt Seiminlal Haokip (22), son of Thangkhongam Haokip of Ainujang Village, Henglep Sub-Division, in Churachandpur district.

The team also conducted a thorough search of the jungle area from S. Kholen Company Operating Base to the general area of Ukha Loikhai and recovered one 7.62 mm AK-47 rifle (Regd. No. BE 520126 (AR-M1A42-09)), one AK magazine, one Glock .32 ACP pistol (made in USA) (Regd. No. 132547), one 9 mm pistol magazine, six rounds of 9 mm ammunition, 20 rounds of 7.62 mm (AK-47) ammunition, two hand grenades, one radio set, one Maruti Gypsy with key, one mobile phone, and four improvised explosive devices.

All the seized items, along with the apprehended individual, were handed over to Churachandpur Police Station, and a case under FIR No. 41(05)2026 CCP-PS u/s 310(6)/3(5) BNS, 25(1-C) Arms Act, 6(1)(1A) IW&T Act, and Section 5 of the Explosive Substances Act was registered for investigation.
