Deputy Chief Minister of Manipur, Losii Dikho, has stated that violence offers no solution. It does not bring justice, does not reclaim what is lost, and clearly will not build a future for the children.

While making an appeal for peace through a statement on Saturday, the Deputy Chief Minister said that violence only breeds suffering and bitterness, and that there is no victory in a grieving land.

The Deputy Chief Minister added that the tragedy that occurred on Friday at Mulam is not a loss for a family, a village, or a particular community alone, but a devastating loss for all of Manipur.

Stating that he has stood before the people previously and appealed for peace and understanding between communities, Losii Dikho said, “Despite our collective yearning for peace and goodwill, it pains me beyond words that the cycle of hate and violence continues to claim the precious lives of our communities.”

He urged every community leader, every mother, every father, and especially the youth to turn away from the path of violence and to stop it before there is nothing left to save.

Dikho called on the people to allow peace to lead the way, and to choose the difficult yet noble path of dialogue over the destructive impulses of guns.

“Our land has seen enough tears, and it is now time for us to heal. I pray for the families of those whose lives were cut short yesterday at Mulam. I also pray for the collective wisdom of our people to choose a shared future of peaceful coexistence and understanding,” Dikho added.
