
In a significant anti-narcotics operation, security forces apprehended two individuals from Tripura after recovering a large quantity of suspected WY tablets during a routine check in Senapati on Thursday.
The joint operation was carried out by the Senapati Police Special Operation Team along with personnel from the D-78 CRPF, B/109 QAT CRPF, and E-Coy 16 Assam Rifles at the T Khullen Naka checkpoint. The arrests were made during random frisking and vehicle checking.
According to police officials, the accused have been identified as Satyendra Nath (38), son of Mukunda Nath from Rambahadur Para Dasda, Dharmanagar in North Tripura, and Sudip Paul (42), son of Subhash Paul from Ward No. 1 Pekuchhara, also in Dharmanagar, North Tripura.
Authorities recovered approximately 1.220 kg of suspected WY tablets (amphetamine) concealed in a plastic cover from their possession. In addition to the narcotics, the security team seized a red Hyundai i20 vehicle bearing registration number AS01DN-3717, along with its key and registration certificate. Four mobile phones, an Aadhaar card, and a driving license were also confiscated.
A case has been registered at Senapati Police Station, and further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended destination of the contraband.
Police officials stated that the operation reflects continued efforts by security forces to curb drug trafficking in the region.
